Product definition and description:
Microsilex“ is a natural silica based product with pozzolanic properties that is used to improve the performance and durability of portland cement concrete and mortar.

 

Color:
Microsilex is a light cream color, and its use will not result in darker concrete. Microsilex is compatible with iron oxide concrete pigments.

 

Application:
Microsilex“ should be used as an additive in relation to the volume of cement in concrete mixtures. For mortar blends, it can be used either in addition to or replacement of cement. Microsilex“ is recommended for use in high performance concrete applications such as bridge decks, pavements, waterways and structures.

 

Chemical and Physical Characteristics:
5 to 15% addition of GCC Microsilex“ by weight of cement is recommended. In order to maximize strength and durability, the exact addition should be determined by trial mixes in a certified laboratory. Use of water reducer additives is recommended for concrete and mortar mixtures.

 

Use recommendations:
Although Microsilex“ has no cementing properties, care should be taken to avoid direct water contact.

 

Advantages:
GCC Microsilex“ increases long term concrete strengths, improves workability, reduces permeability, increases resistance to sulphates, and helps to mitigate alkali silica reaction.
